Media that has a narrative of love of fellow men boy 39 s love popular a wide audience is no exception in Indonesia. This is evident from the amount of high consumption of these media, especially women. At first the consumption of boy 39 s love was done passively by the women of Indonesia. Along with technological developments, these female consumers have the facility to be more active in producing media that has a narrative boy 39 s love. In addition, in Indonesia lately increasingly rampant comic market event and content creator that accommodate women to reproduce the media that has a narrative boys 39 love. As Jenkins 1992 points out, female consumers, also called fans, have more than two decades of re producing boy 39 s love narratives into fan merchandise, fan art, fan fiction, and so on. However, the production of narratives by women consumers still carries both masculine and feminine values or heteronormative values. Departing from that, the author will review one of the fan fiction works, entitled Card Vanguard with the author of Hisuri Rii. Using Roland Barthes 39 s 1972 semiotical analysis knife with the concept of denotation and connotation as the key to semiotic analysis, this study will examine the patriarchal and heteronormative values brought by the author in the manufacture of boys 39 love media"

"The increasing prominence of China on the world stage has sparked scholarly interest in studying the country’s representation in the media. Also driving the enthusiasm is the global expansion of Chinese state media, which some refer to as an attempt to export Chinese propaganda. Research on the topic in Southeast Asia remains lacking despite the region’s being in China’s backyard. This qualitative study aims to narrow the knowledge gap by looking at China’s representation in Malaysia. Using content analysis and in-depth interviews, it examines specifically the coverage of former Prime Minister Najib Razak’s 2016 visit to China by the Malay, Mandarin, and English bulletins on public and private television. The results show that China’s portrayal in the coverage is positive, notwithstanding the stories indicating concerns about the implications of China’s rise. The outcome points to the dominance of the state narrative, with instances of the press breaking the authorities’ restrictions to inform the audience. It appears that the reportage was not much impacted by Chinese media’s efforts to go global. Drawing on the Hierarchy of Influences model, the study demonstrates that the representation of China in Malaysian media coverage is a product shaped by intertwined social, cultural, and political factors as complex as Malaysian society."

This article highlights the significance of queer and trans representation in television. The LGBTQIA+ community continues to be discriminated against today, and Generation Z is more exposed to media than
ever (Francis, 2022). However, transgender storylines have become more prevalent in today’s media landscape, raising fundamental considerations concerning the forms of trans representation available to audiences (Berberick, 2018). Using Stuart Hall’s (1997) representation theory to analyse HBO’s hit TV series, “Euphoria”, which includes a good representation of a trans-femme character (Vice, 2019), this article observes the impacts of such representation in mainstream media on its audiences. This article argues that queer representation in the media directly affects queer people in real life.
