Talent-based television programmes involve contestants competing for rewards based on their unique skills or talents. Judges evaluate contestants' performances, and many programs also rely on audience or viewers to determine which participants advance or are eliminated. This study is aimed at investigating the role of  singing ability and physical appearance of contestants audience's voting behaviour in The Voice. Respondents (n = 90, 63 females; 26 males; 1 non-binary) were recruited via convenience sampling and asked to complete an anonymous questionnaire regarding contestants’ singing ability and their appearance. It was predicted individuals are more likely to vote for contestants with quirky appearances and outstanding singing ability, with the effect of singing ability being more pronounced in those with quirky appearances. Statistical analyses using ANOVA and Post-hoc comparisons found a significant effect of contestant physical appearance and singing ability on voting behavior. The result partially supported the hypothesis listed. Contestants with outstanding singing ability were more likely to receive votes, suggesting that the greater a performer's ability or talent, regardless of their physical appearance, the greater their influence over their audience."

"In eastern Flores, on the Tanjung Bunga peninsula (among Western Lamaholot speakers), several times a year, ritual narratives (opak) are performed on a square dancing area, where all the clans of the same ceremonial land meet. Three types of narrative are sung, according to three kinds of rituals. The article explains the context, content and performance details of these stories, performed all night long. Why do the various clans continue to sing all these narrative? What values do these long poems have for people who sing them? Until now, studies on this subject have been remarkably few, and not even a partial transcription or translation of these narratives is available. This article offers a preliminary insight into these sung narratives, to show how vital they still are in eastern Flores."

"This paper discusses a highly endangered sung style in Maluku Barat Daya along the lines of Sasse?s (1992) theory of language death and focusses on structural consequences, the speech behaviour, and the external setting of this oral tradition. It is concluded that if it really has existed and not only in local folklore, Lirasniara must have been a jargon that was replaced by Malay. Only because it already occurred in sung texts during the latter?s introduction prevented its total disappearance from the region thus far. The fear remains that in the process of the modernization of Indonesia, it may undoubtedly disappear after all in the near future."

Schizophrenia is a chronic psychiatric disorder that causes psychosis accompanied by decreased cognitive, affective, and psychosocial functions. Nursing problems that often arise due to negative symptoms of schizophrenia are social isolation. Social isolation is loneliness experienced by individuals and is considered to arise because of other people and as a threatening negative situation. A person with this condition tends to withdraw from the environment and experience a decrease-even a complete inability-to interact with others. The purpose of writing this scientific work is to describe the client's nursing care process through the application of generalist mental nursing care, expressive writing, and singing activities for clients with social isolation. The writing method used is the case report method. The combination of expressive writing and singing activities serves as a medium for clients to express their feelings and thoughts and stimulate the desire to interact. Nursing care was provided to a 37-year-old client named Ms. W with a diagnosis of schizophrenia. The evaluation was carried out using an evaluation sheet for signs and symptoms of social isolation and client socialization skills developed by the Department of Mental Health Nursing, Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Indonesia. The results of this case report show that the application of generalist mental nursing care, expressive writing, and singing music activities for 7 days is effective in reducing signs and symptoms of social isolation in clients, namely from a score of 30 to 6, and experiencing an increase in socialization skills from a score of 0 to a score of 9. Therefore, the author hopes that expressive writing and singing music activities can be applied as additional interventions in providing nursing care to clients with social isolation in hospitals."
