Abstrak :
Manusia cenderung tidak sensitif pada jarak temporal yang lebih jauh (370 hari) ketika pembandingnya adalah jarak yang cukup jauh (365 hari) atau disebut dengan temporal discounting (Thaler, 1981). Memadukan kecenderungan tersebut dengan Construal Level Theory (Trope & Liberman, 2010), penelitian ini melihat pengaruh jarak spasial terhadap sensitivitas akan jarak temporal. Melalui Studi 1 terbukti bahwa jarak spasial jauh mengurangi sensitivitas terhadap jarak temporal. Di sisi lain, persepsi individu akan jarak temporal dipengaruhi oleh selfconstrual (Spassova & Lee, 2013). Maka, Studi 2 menguji efek moderasi selfconstrual pada hubungan antara jarak spasial dengan sensitivitas akan jarak temporal. Sesuai dengan prediksi, self-construal terbukti memoderasi hubungan jarak spasial dengan sensitivitas akan jarak temporal. Individu dengan self-construal interdependen memiliki sensitivitas temporal yang lebih tinggi daripada individu dengan selfconstrual independen, dalam jarak spasial jauh. ......People less sensitive to further temporal distance (370 days) when the comparison to far time (365 days), known as temporal discounting (Thaler, 1981). , On the basis of this notion and on Construal Level Theory (Trope & Liberman, 2010), Study 1 examines the influence of spatial distance to sensitivity of temporal distance. As predicted, the result shows that spatial distance decreases sensitivity to temporal distance. Nevertheless, people perception of temporal distance is influenced by selfconstrual (Spassova & Lee, 2013). Studi 2 examines the moderation effect of selfconstrual on the relationship between spatial distance and sensitivity to temporal distance. As predicted, self-construal moderate the relationship between spastial distance and sensitivity to temporal distance. Interdependent self-construal has higher sensitivity to temporal distance than independent, on distal spatial distance.
