Fear of intimacy are barriers that prevent young adults to build intimacy in order to form a romantic relationship with a partner. Low self-esteem as internal factors that enable a person to have a high fear of intimacy, is one result of the growing phenomenon of divorce in Indonesia today. Young adults from divorced families tend to have lower self-esteem than young adults from intact families, and therefore tend to have a high fear of intimacy. This study tries to seek and find the direction of the correlation of self-esteem and fear of intimacy in young adults through a quantitative approach. 103 participants consisting of three groups based on parental marital status (married, divorced, widow / widower dies) fill the adaptation of Fear of Intimacy Scale (FIS) and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES). Data analysis with chi-square technique showed a significant negative correlation (Pearson's r = - .368, p value = 0:00) between the scores of self-esteem and fear of intimacy scores. Negative correlation that was found indicating that if a person's has better self-esteem, they would have the lower the tendency of fear of intimacy. Therefore, the self-esteem of children whose parents divorce (rather low) need special attention so it wont grow into internal factors that give rise to fear of intimacy when children were in young adult.

[Public and scholarly interest in early adulthood has increased over the past decade, spurred by the dramatic social and developmental changes young people experience during this period and the consequences of their missteps. The family context, both the family of origin and family of procreation, has emerged as key settings shaping young adults’ success in navigating this period of the life course. While prior research has illuminated relationships between various family contexts and young adult outcomes, the chapters in this volume move the field forward in considering the dynamic interplay between family context, early adult development, and a range of outcomes. In this chapter, we synthesize four emergent themes from this volume : the role of family in pathways to adulthood, cumulative advantage and disadvantage in early adulthood, individual differences in young people’s skills and capacities for negotiating early adulthood, and the role of institutions in shaping early adulthood. , Public and scholarly interest in early adulthood has increased over the past decade, spurred by the dramatic social and developmental changes young people experience during this period and the consequences of their missteps. Summer reading programs are a staple in libraries nationwide and provide a valuable service: keeping teens productive and occupied when they are no longer busy in school. Producing creative programs at the library can be challenging when faced with this easily distracted teen demographic; that s where Sizzling Summer Reading Programs steps in.
