"ABSTRACTNovel dengan berlabel dewasa selalu dikaitkan sebagai novel yang khusus dibaca untuk orang dewasa. Akan tetapi, ditemukan juga novel dewasa yang tidak mengangkat cerita untuk dewasa atau sebaliknya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui indikator yang menentukan dewasa atau tidaknya sebuah novel. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik dari novel berlabel dewasa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif analitik. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah unsur intrinsik. Teori yang digunakan, yaitu sosiologi sastra, novel populer, dan teori perkembangan manusia. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa karakteristik novel dewasa populer, yaitu tokohnya adalah orang dewasa, selalu menghadirkan unsur seks, latar yang digunakan adalah perkotaan, dan alur yang lebih kompleks.

ABSTRACTNovels with adult labels are always associated as novels that are specifically readable for adults. However, some adult novels are found that do not use stories for adults or vice versa. This study aims to knowing the indicators that determine an adult novel. In addition, this study also aims to determine the characteristics of novel labeled adult. The method used in this research is analytical descriptive. The approach that used is intrinsic. Theories that used are the sociology of literature, popular novels, and theories of human development. The results of this study indicate that the characteristics of popular adult novels are the characters are adults, always present the element of sex, the background used is urban, and has a complex plot. "Unsur seksual biasanya dimunculkan dalam bentuk deskripsi erotis pada karya novel populer. Namun, seringkali deskripsi tersebut dianggap berlebihan dan condong ke arah pornografi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat unsur seksual dalam novel populer berjudul How to Stay Single. Analisis tokoh, latar, dan alur dapat menunjukkan deskripsi unsur seksual yang muncul dalam novel. Desain sampul juga menjadi salah satu faktor dalam penyampaian unsur seksual. Meskipun unsur seksual yang dimunculkan dalam novel cenderung berlebihan, hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa novel How to Stay Single tidak termasuk kategori novel porno, melainkan novel populer dengan kategori erotis.

Sexual element usually appear in the form of erotic descriptions on the work of the popular novel. But often these descriptions were considered redundant and leaning towards pornography. This study aims to see the element of sexuality in a popular novel titled How to Stay Single. Analysis of characters, backgrounds, and grooves can show a description of the element of sexuality that appears in the novel. Cover design is also one of the factors in the delivery of sexual element. Although elements of sexuality are raised in the novel tends to be excessive, the analysis shows that the novel How to Stay Single is not categorized as pornographic novels, but the popular novel with erotic category."

"Penelitian ini membahas empat novel populer karya Motinggo Busye yang terbit antara tahun 1963 dan 1978. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan seksualitas dan erotisme yang terdapat di dalam novel tersebut dan menentukan erotisme tersebut termasuk dalam pornografi atau tidak. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif analitis. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah pendekatan struktural dengan menggunakan analisis intrinsik, yaitu analisis tema dan tokoh dan penokohan, serta analisis gaya bahasa untuk melihat aspek estetik erotisme tersebut.

This research discusses four novels by Motinggo Busye which published within 1963 and 1978. This research's aims are to describe the sexuality and eroticism on that novels and to ascertain whether the eroticism were pornography or not. The method of this research is descriptive analysis method. The approach of this research is structural approach by using intrinsic analysis, which are theme analysis and character and characterization analysis, and stylistic analysis to figure the esthetic aspect of the eroticism."

"ABSTRAKSkripsi ini membahas dua novel metropop terbitan PT Gramedia Pustaka Utama. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik novel-novel metropop, perkembangan novel metropop sebagai tren baru novel populer, dan menentukan novel metropop merupakan tren novel populer yang berbeda dari novel populer pada umumnya atau tidak. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif analitik. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah pendekatan intrinsik dan ekstrinsik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa novel metropop dapat diterima oleh masyarakat pembaca. Selain itu, dari karakteristik novel metropop yang diperoleh, diketahui bahwa novel metropop merupakan novel chicklit versi Indonesia yang disesuaikan dengan masyarakat dan kebudayaan Indonesia.

AbstractThis final task discusses about two metropop novels published by PT GPU. The research means to find out the characteristic of the metropop novel, its development as a new trend of popular novel, and to define weather this genre of novel is different or not, compare to popular novel in general. The method used in this research is analytic descriptive method. The approaches used are intrinsic and extrinsic approach. The result shows that metropop novel accepted by the reader society. Its characteristic has shown that it is an Indonesia chicklit novel that had been adjusted to the people and the culture of Indonesia."
