Penelitian mengenai perilaku pencarian informasi mahasiswa pascasarjana program doktor bidang pendidikan bahasa ini dilatarbelakangi karena rendahnya pemanfaatan mereka dt perpustakaan UNJ. Implementasi model pada penelitian ini adalah model tahapan perilaku pencarian informasi gabungan pada A stage process version of Ellis’s behavioral framework yang dikemukakan oleh Wilson yang sebelumnya diperkenalkan oleh David Ellis dalam Behavioral Model of Information Seeking Strategies. Hasil penelitian ini bahwa Model perilaku pencarian informasi mahasiswa program doktor bidang pendidikan bahasa di Universitas Negeri Jakarta yang menyusun disertasi sesuai dengan revisi model lima tahapan yaitu starting, chaining, extracting, verifying dan ending. Strategi pencarian informasi yang dilakukan mahasiswa program doktor yang sedang menulis disertasi yaitu dengan menggunakan perpustakaan, koleksi pribadi, mengakses internet, bertemu dengan narasumber, pembimbing, teman maupun mahasiswa. Hambatan yang ditemui ketika melakukan penelitian berkaitan dengan individu, antar individu serta faktor lingkungan yang menjadi hambatan terbesar karena terbatas, ketersediaan koleksi dan juga sumber informasi yang tersedia di sekitar informan. This research is carried out because of postgraduate doctoral students of language education program’s usage statistics in library is very low. This study uses A stage process version of Ellis's behavioral framework by Wilson which is previously introduced by David Ellis in behavioral model of Information seeking strategies. The result of this study reveals that the model of information seeking behavior of the postgraduate doctoral students of language education program in State University of Jakarta who wrote dissertation is suitable with the model based on five steps; starting, chaining, extracting, verifying and ending. The strategies conducted by the respondents are going to the library, their own collections, Internet access, discussion with the source, advisor, friends and also their students. The barriers that they face when doing research is closely related to individual, between individuals and also environmental factors which becomes the biggest barrier due to the limited and availability of collections as well as available information source among respondents. |
