Sebagai salah satu penyelenggara pendidikan terkemuka di Indonesia, UI membutuhkan sebuah sistem insofrmasi eksekutif yang tepat. Sistem informasi eksekutif tersebut memerlukan data yang tidak hanya berasal dari data terkini tetapi juga data dari beberapa periode sebelumnya yang dikumpulkan dari berbagai basis data operasional yang sudah ada. Data tersebut kemudian dianalisa terlebih dahulu dan hasilnya diguanakan sebaai pertimbangan pihak manajemen dalam pengambilan keputusan, sehingga keputusan yang diambil dapat lebih akurat dan optimal. Data Warehouse adalah suatu tempat pemyimpanan data yang lengkap dan konsisten, yang didapatkan dari berbagai sumber dan dibuat untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pengguna dan dalam suatu konteks bisnis. Saat ini, UI belum memiliki Data Warehouse yang mampu untuk mendukung proes analisa pengambilan keputusan tersebut. Proyek akhir ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan suatu rancangan Data Warehouse. As one of the leader of education provider in Indonesia, University of Indonesia needs an appropriate executive information system. The executive information system not only requires the currently available data, but also historical data collected from several operational databases. The data will be analyzed and the result will be used as a consideration for the decision making process by the management, to ensure that the decision taken is as accurate and optimum as possible. This is the role of the data warehouse in providing strategic information to help decision making process. Data warehouse is used to completely and consistently store data acquired through many sources and is created to fulfill the needs of a user in a business context. Right now, the University of Indonesia does not have data warehouse capable of supporting the decision making analysis process. This final project is meant to design a data warehouse, to support the needs of the management from the Faculties and University of Indonesia and help them in making academic-related decisions. This document describe the design of Data Warehouse as a supporting system for the Academic Information System of University Indonesia. It will focus on the architecture of the system and data warehouse design. The result of making Data Warehouse will be presented using web application to make user easy to link the information needed. |
