Overclocking mempunyai tujuan untuk meningkatkan kinerja komputer dengan cara menaikkan frekuensi dari prosesor yang digunakan. Downclocking bertujuan untuk mengurangi panas yang dihasilkan dan konsumsi daya yang digunakan oleh prosesor dengan cara menurunkan frekuensinya. Pada skripsi ini dibahas mengenai seberapa efektif peningkatan kinerja dari sebuah prosesor dengan melakukan overclocking terhadap kartu grafis dan juga dampaknya terhadap suhu yang dihasilkan serta daya yang digunakan. Serta seberapa besar pengaruh downclocking pada kartu grafis terhadap kinerja prosesor dan pengaruhnya terhadap suhu yang dihasilkan dan daya yang digunakan. Pengukuran kinerja komputer dengan proses overclocking dan downclocking pada kartu grafis menggunakan 2 jenis aplikasi, yaitu aplikasi sintetis yang memang dikhususkan untuk kegiatan benchmarking dan satunya lagi adalah aplikasi real life yang biasa dipakai sehari-hari, yaitu game. Objek penelitiannya pun dilakukan terhadap 2 platform pengujian, yaitu desktop dan laptop. Hasil yang diharapkan dari proses overclock serta downclock adalah berupa kestabilan dari sebuah sistem yang diuji coba. Pada media desktop mempunyai karakteristik tersendiri, yakni melakukan penyetelan bios untuk proses overclock sedangkan media laptop tidak diperlukan penyetelan bios. Media desktop mempunyai ketahanan yang tinggi saat aplikasi sintetis maupun real life dijalankan dibandingkan dengan media laptop, hal ini dikarenakan adanya perbedaan arsitektur. Pada pengukuran suhu dan konsumsi daya akan mengalami peningkatan saat ada beban.
The purpose of overclocking is to increase the komputer performance with rising the frequency of the processor that been used. And also downclocking purpose is to reduce heat that generate and power that been used by the processor with decreasing it's frequency. In this final project will explain how effective of processor performance that can be achieved with doing the process overclocking of vga card and also the influence to the temperature and to the power usage. And also how effective of processor performance when doing the process downclocking of vga card to the sistem and the influence to the temperature and power usage. The measurement of processor performance in overclocking and downclocking process are using two kinds of applications, first application is synthetic application which made for benchmarking of vga card activity and the second application is real life application which commonly used for everyday activity that is game. And also the research of this object is using two kinds of platform experiment that are desktop and laptop. Results expected from the process of overclock and downclock has the stability of a system tested. On the desktop media has its own characteristics, which make setting bios to overclock the laptop while the media is not required bios settings. Media desktop has a high resistance when the application of synthetic and real life compared to the media laptop, because of the differences in architecture. The measurement of temperature and power consumption will increase when there were a load and also influence the system. |
