Modifikasi polipropilena klasik melalui variasi kecepatan alir lelehan (melt flow rate, MFR) ternyata tidak cukup untuk memenuhi tuntutan industri. Pada perkembangannya, performa PP-Homopolimer dipengaruhi oleh penambahan komonomer etilena. Skripsi ini ingin mengetahui pengaruh penambahan komonomer etilena terhadap sifat mekanik dan optik PP sebagai suatu modifikasi PP. Sampel yang digunakan adalah PP Trilene_ HE2.0TF (on spec product), dengan variasi kadar komonomer etilena yaitu 0.4 %, 0.6 %, 0.9 % dan 1.0 %. Dari penelitian ini didapatkan bahwa kadar komonomer etilena yang meningkat menghasilkan nilai kekerasan, ketahanan impak gardner dan keburaman yang meningkat. Sedangkan nilai kekuatan tarik, kekakuan, ketahanan impak izod dan kemengkilapan menurun. Sementara itu elongasi tidak mengalami perubahan (13 %). On its development, the performance of PP-Homopolymer is affected by addition of ethylene co-monomer. This research is aimed to discover the effect of ethylene co-monomer addition to the optical and mechanic properties of PP as a modification to PP. The sample used is PP Trylene_ HE2.0TF (on spec product) by varying the content of ethylene co-monomer which are; 0.4% , 0.6%, 0.9%, and 1.0%. It is observed that the increasing content of ethylene co-monomer resulting in the increasing of hardness value, gardner impact resistance and opacity, respectively. Whereas, the tensile strength value, stiffness, izod impact resistsnce and glossy is decrease. Meanwhile, the elongation is unaffected. |
