Abstract
Tesis ini membahas tentang kemunculan dan penumpasan gerakan PGRS/PARAKU di daerah perbatasan Kalimantan Barat dan Sarawak pada periode 1963 - 1970. Secara deskriptif naratif, tesis ini memaparkan awal mula proses pembentukan PGRS/PARAKU di daerah perbatasan, apa saja aktivitasnya, dan bagaimana sikap dan tindakan pemerintah, maupun dampaknya terhadap masyarakat.
Dari hasil penelitian dalam tesis ini dapat diketahui bahwa gerakan PGRS/PARAKU semula mendapat dukungan dari pemerintah Indonesia dan membantu Indonesia ketika konfrontasi dengan Malaysia. Namun demikian, ketika terjadi pergantian rezim penguasa dari Orde Lama ke Orde Baru gerakan PGRS/PARAKU yang berhaluan komunis kemudian ditumpas.
This thesis discusses the emergence and extermination of PGRS/PARAKU in border areas of West Kalimantan and Sarawak in the period 1963 to 1970. Chronologically, this thesis describes the beginning of the formation of PGRS/PARAKU on the border and their activities. Beside that, it also describes the government actions and policies in facing PGRS/PARAKU, and the impact of this movement to the society. From the results of this research, it can be seen that the Indonesian government (Old Order) support PGRS/PARAKU. However, when the regime changes from the Old Order to the New Order, PGRS/PARAKU, as a communist's movement was crushed.
