Abstract
ABSTRAK
Jurnalisme bencana adalah bagaimana media memberitakan bencana. Jurnalisme bencana menjadi bahasan penting dalam dunia jurnalistik karena Indonesia adalah negeri rentan bencana. Namun pemberitaan mengenai bencana oleh media massa di Indonesia selama ini selalu menuai kritik karena cenderung ditampilkan secara dramatis. Pemberitaan tersebut terbentuk lewat pemahaman subjektif jurnalis.
Penelitian ini ingin mengetahui pemahaman jurnalis mengenai konsep jurnalisme bencana, dilihat dari proses peliputan bencana, pemahaman mengenai prinsip peliputan jurnalisme bencana, dan peliputan di tiap fase bencana. Peneliti menemukan bahwa jurnalis memahami mengenai konsep jurnalisme bencana dalam ranah kognitif.
ABSTRACT Disaster journalism is how a mass media reports about disaster. Disaster journalism is very important topic because Indonesia is susceptible country of disaster. However, reporting of disaster by mass media has always criticized because there was dramatization tendency in journalism report. That reporting is established through a subjective understanding of journalist. This research aims to determine the comprehension of journalist on the concept of disaster journalism, ranging from the process of disaster reporting, a comprehension of the principles of disaster reporting, and coverage in each phases of disaster. The research found that journalists has understanding about disaster journalism concept in the realm of cognitive.
