Abstract
ABSTRAK
Terjemahan beranotasi merupakan kajian yang menempatkan terjemahan sebagai objek penelitian. Penelitian ini mengangkat teks sumber buku psikologi populer yang berjudul You?re not who you think you are. Tesis ini memperlihatkan proses menerjemahkan teks operatif untuk menghasilkan teks sasaran yang berfungsi sama. Selanjutnya, tesis ini juga memberikan catatan atas padanan yang diberikan untuk masalah dalam proses menerjemahkan yang ditemukan berupa penerjemahan istilah psikologi, Vedanta, metafora, simile, dan idiom. Sebagai teks operatif, teks sumber diterjemahkan dengan menerapkan metode adaptif Reiss, yang artinya penerjemah berorientasi kepada bahasa sasaran. Berdasarkan hasil uji coba responden, disimpulkan bahwa tujuan penerjemahan telah berhasil dicapai. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga menunjukkan bahwa di dalam teks operatif juga terdapat teks ekpresif. Selanjutnya, prosedur yang paling tepat untuk memadankan istilah baru adalah prosedur calque.
ABSTRACT
Annotated translation is a study which place a translation as the study object. This study takes source text which is a popular psychology book tittled You?re not who you think you are. This theses shows translating process of an operative source text into an operative target text. Furthermore, it also gives some annotations on the equivalent word given for the translation problem found such as translation of psychology and Vedanta term, metaphors, simile, and idiom. As an operative text, source text is translated by applying adaptive method by Reiss, it means that the translator is oriented to target language. Based on the result of the trial on respondents, it is concluded that the translation purpose has been achieved. Furthermore, this study finds an expressive text in an operative text. And finally, it shows that the best procedure to translate a new term is calque.
