Pengaruh surfaktan tawasterbukti mampu menurunkan terminal velocity gelembung. ABSTRACT Waste batik can raise Total Suspended Solid (TSS) that exceed the waterquality standard. One technique that can be used to reduce Total Suspended Solidis bubbles flotation. The effectiveness of the bubbles flotation depends on threethings, namely the probability of collision between bubbles with particles, theparticles stick to the surface of the bubbles and the particles carried by thebubbles. These probabilities are greatly influenced by the characteristics of thebubble, i.e. diameter, rise velocity along the column, and terminal velocity of thebubbles. The purpose of this research was to study the characteristics of smallbubbles (bubbles with a diameter of 0,2 mm to 1 mm), which rise in a liquidcolumn. Research have been made to bubbles rise within 2 m high column thatcontains 100 g/L alum solution. Bubbles were produced by electrolysis and thentraced using a camera placed on a guideways. Videos were processed usingimageJ software. The results showed that at a height of 50 cm from the cathode tipbubbles in average have reached its terminal velocity. It has been proven thateffect of alum surfactant can reduce the bubbles terminal velocity. |
