ABSTRACT The objective of the study was to identify the freeway systems performanceespecially the productivity of a freeway. The study relates literature review to theAustralian National Performance Indicators (NPI) that has been proposed byAustroads and its verification with Speed-Flow Curves for Basic FreewaySegments of Highway Capacity Manual 2000. The study found that theproductivity measurement by using NPI method did not mention any clearlimitations and the values did not reflect the productivity of a freeway well.Furthermore, this study on Speed-Flow Curves for Basic Freeway Segments ofHCM 2000 also suggested a set of values of optimum speed and flow that werebelieved more suitable than the normalisation values suggested by Austroads. |
