 Abstract
Tugu Ibu Depok hospital is a type C hospital. As a health care provider, Tugu Ibu hospital has many activities and provides many services. With the Bed Occupancy Rate (BOR) of 50-70%, the hospital generates quite a lot both medical and non-medical solid waste. The hospital should organize and conduct waste minimization program to prevent pollution. The objective of this research was to analyze the waste minimization efforts and management of medical and non-medical solid waste. This research used qualitative and quantitative approaches. Data collection was done using in-depth interviews, observation, and document review. The results of this research showed that the Tugu Ibu Depok hospital has conducted a program of waste minimization through waste reduction by sorting it (segregation and housekeeping). The hospital has never been reused nor recycled the waste. The management of solid waste from sorting, collecting, transportion, storage and waste disposal are properly organized. Medical waste incineration has been done by third party. To improve waste minimization efforts, specific standard operating pdures (SOP) to reduce and reuse waste is needed. It is also suggested to conduct training Latar Melanon waste minimization and reuse techniques. Strong commitme fro top-level management is needed.
