Abstract
Metode kanguru merupakan teknologi tepat guna untuk perawatan bayi berat lahir rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat gambaran serta hubungan karakteristik ibu dengan motivasi melakukan perawatan kanguru. Penelitan ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain deskriptif korelasi melalui pendekatan cross sectional dengan teknik consecutive sampling. Responden berjumlah 106 orang. Penelitian dilakukan di RS Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Jakarta.
Dari hasil uji chi square didapatkan hubungan yang bermakna antara usia, pekerjaan dan sumber informasi yang didapat ibu dengan motivasi tentang perawatan metode kanguru (p value < 0,05). Peneliti merekomendasikan penelitian lanjutan mengenai peran petugas kesehatan untuk meningkatkan motivasi pada pelaksanaan perawatan kanguru.

Kangaroo method is one of the appropriate technology for the care of low birth weight babies. This study aimed to describe mother?s motivation of kangaroo care. This a quantitative research used a correlational-descriptive design with cross sectional approach. The technique of sampling used consecutive sampling with 106 subjects at Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital Jakarta.
The result found that there are significantly relationship between materanal age, occupation and information sources to the mother?s motivation of kangaroo care (p value > 0.05). Researcher recommend for the further research to analyze the role of care giver to improve the motivation for the kangaroo methods.
