Abstrak
ABSTRAK
Tesis ini fokus pada penyebab konflik bersenjata antara Thailand dan Kamboja terkait kuil Preah Vihear pada tahun 2008-2011. Tesis ini menganalisa mengenai faktor internal negara sebagai penyebab konflik bersenjata dengan berdasarkan Teori Democratic Peace. Terdapat tiga argumentasi dalam Teori Democratic Peace yang menjadi acuan, pertama argumentasi institusional, kedua argumentasi normatif, dan ketiga, argumentasi interdependensi ekonomi. Dalam argumentasi institusional maka pembuatan kebijakan luar negeri di Thailand dan Kamboja didominasi oleh elit. Kedua, dalam argumentasi normatif, elit Thailand dan Kamboja sulit diajak bekerjasama karena elit memiliki cara pandang konfliktual satu sama lain. Ketiga, dalam argumentasi interdependensi, hubungan ekonomi kedua negara ternyata tidak dapat menghindarkan kedua negara untuk tetap menggunakan cara kekerasan dan terlibat dalam konflik bersenjata.
ABSTRACT
The focus of this thesis is the armed conflict between Thailand and Cambodia 2008- 2011. The purpose of this research is to understand internal factors as the causes of the armed conflict between Cambodia and Thailand concerning Preah Vihear Temple. The data was collected through the library and document study. Based on the theory of Democratic Peace, there are three arguments, the first, institutional arguments, second, normative argument, and the third, the argument of economic interdependence. The results of this research shows in the institutional argument, that decision making process in Thailand and Cambodia is dominated by elites. Second, the normative argument, the Thai and Cambodian elites have the perspective conflictual one another. Third, the argument is about the interdependence of economic relations between the two countries were not significant to avoid the two countries to use violence each other.
