ABSTRAK Tesis ini meneliti tentang pemaknaan preservasi pengetahuan pustakawan referen sebagai dasar konstruksi perpustakaan berbasis pengetahuan di Perpustakaan Universitas Indonesia. Penelitian ini berusaha menggali peran pengetahuan individu pustakawan referen sebagai faktor kunci kesinambungan siklus pengetahuan perpustakaan Universitas Indonesia. Kesinambungan siklus pengetahuan merupakan esensi dari perpustakaan berbasis pengetahuan. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Data dalam penelitian ini bertumpu pada hasil wawancara, observasi, dan analisa dokumen. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kesinambungan siklus pengetahuan di Perpustakaan Universitas Indonesia bertumpu pada pengetahuan individu koordinator bidang yang juga merupakan pustakawan referen. Siklus pengetahuan Perpustakaan Universitas Indonesia bertumpu pada tiga bidang yaitu bidang layanan koleksi UI-ana, bidang teknologi informasi, dan bidang layanan referensi. Arti penting preservasi pengetahuan yang dimiliki oleh pustakawan referen bagi eksistensi perpustakaan Universitas Indonesia telah disadari oleh kepala perpustakaan dan koordinator bidang, hanya saja kesadaran tersebut belum mencapai tingkat kesadaran pengetahuan sebagai aset. Hal tersebut disebabkan oleh adanya perbedaan pandangan terhadap realisasi nilai pengetahuan serta kurangnya motivasi untuk mendorong personil Perpustakaan Universitas Indonesia mengartikulasikan pengetahuan individu yang dimiliki. Perbedaan realisasi nilai pengetahuan serta kurangnya motivasi inilah yang menjadi faktor penghambat proses transfer pengetahuan pustakawan referen ke dalam memori kolektif Perpustakaan Universitas Indonesia. ABSTRACT This Thesis observe the meaning of knowledge preservation of reference librarian as the core of the Knowledge-based library construction. This research trying to explore the role of individual knowledge of reference librarian as the key factor of the sustainability of knowledge cycle of Universitas Indonesia Library. Continuity of cycle knowledge is the essence of knowledge-based library. This study is a qualitative research case study method. The data in this study based on interviews, observation, and document analysis. The results of this research indicate that the sustainability of the knowledge cycle in Universitas Indonesia Library relies on individual knowledge of the field coordinator who is also a reference librarian. Knowledge cycle of Universitas Indonesia relies on three areas, namely UI-ana collection services, information technology, and reference services. The importance of the knowledge preservation that possessed by reference librarians for the existence of the library of University of Indonesia has been recognized by the Chief librarian and the field coordinator, but the awareness of knowledge as an asset has not reached yet. This condition caused by the difference in views towards the realization of the knowledge value and a lack of motivation to encourage the personnel of Universitas Indonesia library to articulate their individual knowledge. The differences in the realization of the knowledge value and lack of motivation to articulate the knowledge is the inhibiting factors of knowledge transfer processes from reference librarian into the collective memory of the Universitas Indonesia Library. |
