Abstrak
Tesis ini bertujuan untuk menentukan usia paro hidup dan keusangan
dokumen di bidang ilmu perpustakaan dan informasi, di media jurnal Library
Trends periode 2009-2012, The Library Quarterly periode 2010-2012 dan
International Journal of Library Science periode 2010-2012.
Penelitian ini menggunakan analisis deskriptif kuantitatif, dimana artikel
dalam jurnal ini digunakan sebagai unit analisis dalam penelitian ini. Jurnal yang
diteliti terdiri dari 30 nomor dengan 202 artikel dan 3.306 sitiran.
Hasil perhitungan pada usia paro hidup pada jurnal secara keseluruhan
adalah 10,3 tahun. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa dokumen di bidang ilmu
perpustakaan dan informasi akan dikutip oleh penulis lain sekitar 10,3 tahun
setelah dokumen tersebut diterbitkan. Jika dokumen dikutip lebih dari 10,3 tahun
dari tanggal publikasi tersebut maka informasi dalam dokumen yang dimaksud
dapat dikatakan telah usang.
......This study aims to determine the age of half-life and obsolescence of
documents in the field of library and information science, on the media of Library
Trends periods 2009-2012, The Library Quarterly periods 2010-2012 and
International Journal of Library Science periods 2010-2012.
This research uses a descriptive quantitative analysis, where the articles in
these journals used as a unit of analysis in this study. These journals are consisting
of 30 issues with 202 articles and 3.306 citations.
The calculation result on half-life age to overall journals is 10.3 years. It
indicates that documents in field of library and information science will cited by
other authors approximately 10.3 years after those documents published. If whole
documents cited more than 10.3 years from the date of those publication then the
information in the documents can be said to have obsoleted.
