ABSTRAK Tesis ini membahas jumlah opsi pada format tes Pilihan-Ganda (PG) yang lebih optimal digunakan pada Ujian Nasional SMA di Indonesia. Dua format tes PG 5-opsi, yang masing-masing berisi 50 butir soal, digunakan sebagai instrumen penelitian. Salah satu dari format tes PG 5-opsi tersebut kemudian dimodifikasi menjadi format tes PG 4-opsi dengan cara menghapus satu pilihan pengecoh (distracter) yang tidak berfungsi pada tiap butir soal. Kedua format tes PG yang berbeda tersebut diberikan kepada 2 kelompok di 2 SMA Negeri. Untuk menegaskan hasil penelitian, kuesioner diberikan secara acak kepada 120 siswa SMA dan 15 guru bahasa Inggris SMA. Hasil dari kedua format tes PG tersebut dikorelasikan dengan hasil analisis data kuesioner. Dalam penelitian ini, Classical method dan Rasch model digunakan untuk membandingkan tingkat kesulitan butir soal, daya diskriminasi soal, keefektifan distrakter dan reliabilitas diantara kedua format tes PG tersebut. Terdapat perubahan yang signifikan pada item difficulties (p<0.05) dan item discrimination diantara kedua format tes PG.Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa format tes PG 4-opsi lebih sulit daripada format tes PG 5-opsi. Format tes PG 4-opsi lebih praktis dan lebih optimal diteskan di UN SMA karena memiliki pilihan-pilihan pengecoh yang lebih masuk akal. ABSTRACT The focus of this study is determining the most optimal number of options in Multiple-Choice test format for Indonesian national examinations in senior high schools. Two five-option MC formats English UN tests, which consist of 50 items per test format, were used as the elicitation devices in this study. One of the fiveoptionformats was then converted to the four-option MC format by eliminating the non-functioning distracters in each item. The two different MC test formats were given to 2 groups within 2 SMAN schools. To confirm the results of the study, questionnaires were randomly disseminated to 120 SMA students and 15 English teachers. The results of the two MC test formats were correlated to the results of the questionnaires data analysis. The results suggested that the fouroption format were more difficult than the five-option format. The Classicalmethod and Rasch model were applied to compare item difficulties, item discrimination, distracter measure correlation and reliabilities across the two MC test formats. There was significant change observed in item difficulties (p<0.05), item discrimination across the two MC test formats. Considering the practicalityfor developing MC tests with more plausible distracters, four-option MC format was concluded to be optimal. |
