[ABSTRAK Disertasi ini membahas tentang dinamika interaksi antara negara dan masyarakat dalam proses formasi nasionalisme dan identitas kebangsaan pada komunitas perbatasan Indonesia-Malaysia di desa Sebunga-Sajingan Besar, Kabupaten Sambas-Kalimantan Barat. Pendekatan pokok penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan ragam studi kasus, yang dilengkapi dengan survey. Hasil penelitian menjelaskan bahwa gagasan nasionalisme dan identitas kebangsaan tidak bersifat baku dan final. Secara dinamis, dimaknai dan dikonstruksikan melalui negosiasi, kontestasi, dominasi, dan kompromi antara negara dan masyarakat lokal, dalam kurun waktu yang panjang, sejak kemerdekaan hingga era reformasi, dan dalam kerangka kepentingan politik, ekonomi, dan sosio-kultural. ABSTRAK The focus of this study is the dynamics of the interaction between state and society in the process of formation of nationalism and national identity in the Indonesia-Malaysia border community in the village of Sebunga-Sajingan Besar, Sambas ? West Kalimantan. The main approach of this research is qualitative with case studies design, which are equipped with the survey. The results explain that the idea of nationalism and national identity are not fixed and final.
