ABSTRAK

Tesis ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh institusi politik di pemerintahan terhadap

pertumbuhan ekonomi. Institusi politik disini didefinisikan sebagai dukungan partai

politik yang memiliki kursi terbesar di legislatif terhadap eksekutif dalam pilkada.

Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa jika eksekutif didukung oleh partai terbesar di

legislatif maka berpengaruh positif terhadap pertumbuhan ekonomi. Dalam tesis ini

juga ditemukan bahwa dominasi partai politik dalam legislatif memiliki peran penting.

Jika partai terbesar dalam legislatif mendukung eksekutif maka pengaruhnya terhadap

pertumbuhan positif, terlebih jika partai tersebut semakin dominan. Dan sebaliknya,

jika partai terbesar tidak mendukung eksekutif maka akan menghambat pertumbuhan,

terlebih jika partai tersebut semakin dominan.

ABSTRACT

This thesis aims to examine the effect of political institut ions on economic growth.

Political institutions are here defined as the support of a political party that has the

most seats in the legislature to the executive in the elections. The results show that

if the executive is supported by the largest party in the legislature then has a

positive effect on economic growth. In this thesis also found that the dominance of

political parties in the legislature has an important role. The largest party in the

legislature supporting the executive tend to have positive effect on growth,

especially if the party is increasingly dominant. And conversely, if the largest

party does not support the executive then will inhibit growth, especially if the

party is more dominant.
