[Sejalan dengan upaya pemerintah untuk meningkatkan penggunaan energialternatif di sektor industri, maka kebutuhan terhadap energi gas bumi akan terusmeningkat. Hal ini karena gas bumi merupakan energi alternatif yang harganyarelatif murah dan ramah lingkungan. Dengan meningkatnya kebutuhan terhadapgas bumi, permasalahan yang dihadapi adalah jumlah permintaan yang tidaksebanding dengan jumlah pasokan. Akibatnya, permintaan gas bumi olehperusahaan di sektor industri tidak dapat terpenuhi secara maksimal. Penelitian inidilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi permintaangas bumi oleh perusahaan besar dan sedang di sektor industri pengolahan padaperiode tahun 2007-2011. Selain itu juga untuk memberikan masukan kebijakanterkait upaya yang dapat dilakukan dalam rangka memenuhi permintaan gas bumiyang semakin meningkat ke depannya. Analisa dilakukan terhadap data StatistikIndustri Besar dan Sedang pada tahun 2007-2011 yang dikeluarkan oleh BadanPusat Statistik Indonesia dengan menggunakan metode estimasi Ordinary LeastSquare. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa faktor-faktor yang signifikanmempengaruhi permintaan gas bumi oleh perusahaan besar dan sedang di industripengolahan adalah harga gas, harga solar, harga LPG, harga/upah tenaga kerja,status penanaman modal, orientasi pasar, wilayah/kawasan, waktu/tahun, dan jenisindustri.;In line with the government's efforts to increase the use of alternative energy inthe industrial sector, the demand for natural gas energy will continue to increase.This is because natural gas is an alternative energy that is relatively cheap andenvironmentally friendly. With the increasing demand for natural gas, the problemfaced is the amount of demand that are not proportional to the amount of supply.As a result, demand for natural gas by companies in the industrial sector cannot bemet to the fullest. This study was conducted to identify factors that affect thedemand for natural gas by large and medium enterprises in the manufacturingsector in the period 2007-2011. In addition, to provide policy advice relatedefforts to do in order to meet the growing demand for natural gas increases in thefuture. We analyzed the data of Large and Medium Industrial Statistics in the year2007-2011 issued by the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics estimated usingOrdinary Least Square method.
