[ABSTRAKSkripsi ini mendeskripsikan dan menganalisa dinamika praktik berladang yang dilakukan oleh peladang Desa Mantangai Hulu, Kabupaten Kuala Kapuas, Kalimantan Tengah. Perladangan dengan kaitan penggunaan api menjadi fokus kajian karena berkaitan erat dengan fenomena kebakaran hutan di Indonesia. Peladang adalah pihak yang dituding sebagai pelaku pembakaran hutan dan lahan. Skripsi ini menceritakan tahap-tahap berladang dan variasi yang terjadi. Variasi terjadi pada cara berladang dan penggunaan alat teknologi. Setiap peladang memiliki tindakan yang berbeda-beda dari pengalaman dan kondisi lingkungan dan sosial yang dihadapi. Variasi tersebut telah mempengaruhi siklus tahapan berladang. Dari sekian variasi yang terjadi, tahapan pembakaran di aktivitas berladang tidak hilang dan tidak tergantikan. Skripsi ini juga memaparkan variasi praktik berladang yang rentan terhadap terjadinya kebakaran lahan dan hutan gambut. ABSTRACT;This thesis analyzes the dynamics of cultivation practices made by a group of ricecultivators in Mantangai Hulu Village, Kuala Kapuas Regency, CentralKalimantan. Connection between cultivation and the use of fire become the focusof study in this thesis because of the forest fires in Indonesia. Cultivators areblamed as the caused of forest fires. This thesis describes the stages of farmingand the variation. The variation occurs in the cultivation practices and the use oftechnological tools. Each cultivators have different actions depending on theexperience and the social and environmental conditions encountered. Thevariations have affected the farming cycle stages. According to varieties, there isthe use of fire stages in cultivation that cultivators never be replaced.
