ABSTRAK
Rendahnya motivasi belajar mahasiswa terutama pada partisipasi dalam perkuliahan banyak diyakini dipengaruhi oleh kompetensi komunikasi dosen dan iklim komunikasi perkuliahan. Seberapa besar pengaruh kompetensi komunikasi dosen dan iklim komunikasi terhadap motivasi belajar, belum diperoleh gambaran yang jelas. Dengan alasan tersebut, penelitian ini dirancang untuk mengetahui pengaruh kompetensi komunikasi dosen dan iklim komunikasi suportif terhadap motivasi belajar mahasiswa. Kompetensi komunikasi dosen dapat dilihat dari pengetahuan, motivasi, dan keterampilan yang dimilikinya dalam berkomunikasi. Sedangkan iklim komunikasi suportif dapat terbentuk melalui interaksi antara pimpinan dan anggota dimana pimpinan mampu menempatkan diri sejajar dengan anggota, bicara terbuka dan spontan, menciptakan kenyamanan dalam berkomunikasi, dan empatik. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif yang bersifat eksplanatif, dengan metode survei, yaitu menyebarkan kuesioner dengan menggunakan teknik proportional stratified random sampling, dan dianalisis dengan regresi linier berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi komunikasi dosen memberikan kontribusi yang lebih besar dibanding iklim komunikasi suportif terhadap motivasi belajar. Namun, motivasi belajar juga dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain diluar kompetensi komunikasi dosen dan iklim komunikasi, antara cita-cita, keinginan belajar, keinginan berprestasi, penghargaan, dan lingkungan.
ABSTRAK
The low students’ learning motivation, especially on participation in lecturing widely believed to be influenced by communication competence of lecturers and communication climate. How much influence of communication competence of lecturers and communication climate on students’ learning motivation, has not obtained a clear description. For these reasons, this study was designed to determine the effect of communication competence of lecturers and supportive communication climate of students’ learning motivation. Communication competence of lecturers can be seen from the knowledge, motivation, and skills they have in communicating. While supportive communication climate can be formed with the support of leaders who are able to put themselves in line with members, open and spontaneous speech, creating convenience in communication, and empathic. This study uses a quantitative approach that is explanative, the survey method, which is disseminating questionnaires using proportional stratified random sampling technique, and analyzed by linear regression. The results showed that the communication competence of lecturers provide a greater contribution than the supportive communication climate of students’ learning motivation. However, learning motivation is also influenced by other factors beyond the communication competence and communication climate, that are the goals, the desire to learn, the desire of achievement, awards, and the environment |
