[ABSTRAK Penelitian ini berfokus untuk melihat efektivitas strategi story map untuk meningkatkan pemahaman bacaan pada siswa dengan disabilitas intelektual ringan. Strategi story map merupakan strategi yang digunakan untuk membentuk skema selama membaca suatu bacaan. Program ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan direct instruction, yaitu peneliti memberi contoh (modelling), memberi arahan minimal (guiding) dan memberi kesempatan pada siswa untuk menjalani strategi secara mandiri (independent practice). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan kemampuan memahami bacaan pada siswa setelah program diberikan. Setelah tiga hari program dihentikan, subyek juga masih mampu mempertahankan kemampuan memahami bacaan tersebut.
