Tesis ini membahas mengenai strategi yang dijalankan oleh Amerika Serikat dalam kampanye globalnya untuk memerangi terorisme sejak serangan 911 yang difokuskan pelaksanaanya di Pakistan dan Indonesia. Kerja sama yang terjalin dalam pemberantasan yang terjalin oleh Amerika Serikat kepada Pakistandan Indonesia tetap diwarnai tindakan sepihak Amerika Serikat untuk melakukanserangan atau agresi militer ke dalam wilayah Pakistan, sedangkan Indonesia yang relatif lemah angkatan bersenjatanya Amerika Serikat tetap mengedepankankerjasama penuh kepercayaan. Faktor-faktor yang menjadi pertimbangan pengambil keputusan dalam pelaksanaan agresi militer di Pakistan dan kerjasamadi Indonesia akan dikupas termasuk faktor-faktor dari sisi Amerika Serikat sendiri. Analisis dalam tesis ini menggunakan dasar pemikiran konsep strategiyang terdiri dari berbagai faktor dan antara faktor-faktor tersebut saling mempengaruhi. Kajian dalam penelitian ini menemukan sejumlah kondisi-kondisiyang menyebabkan Amerika Serikat harus bertindak keras secara militer terhadap Pakistan dan menekankan kerjasama pada kondisi Indonesia;
ABSTRACT
The thesis discusses the strategy pursued by the United States of America in its global campaign to fight against terrorism since the September Eleven (9/11)attacks. The focus of the thesis is the fights conducted in Pakistan and Indonesia. In holding such cooperation with Pakistan, the United States directly often attacksits targets in the jurisdiction of the country. Meanwhile, the superpower country always promotes a trustful cooperation in conducting such cooperation inIndonesia which has relatively weak armed forces. The thesis will discuss several factors that must be considered by the United States of America?s decision makers in conducting a military aggression in Pakistan and a trustful cooperation inIndonesia. The thesis employs the rationales of the concept of strategy which consist of a variety of factors and such factors affect each other.
