[ABSTRAK Tesis ini membahas mengenai peran Barack Obama memimpin Amerika Serikatuntuk perundingan perubahan iklim global. Permasalahan yang diangkat dalampenelitian ini adalah bagaimana Obama membawa gagasan Amerika Serikat untukmengatasi perubahan iklim akibat pemanasan global. Presiden Obama tidakmemungkiri fakta perubahan iklim yang sedang terjadi sebagai sebuah tragedy ofthe commons. Di sisi lain, Presiden Obama tidak bisa terlepas dari kepentingannasional Amerika dengan memotong emisi sesuai target mengikat Protokol Kyoto.Obama memiliki target penurunan emisi sendiri untuk diterapkan AmerikaSerikat, untuk itu Obama mendorong perundingan iklim global menerapkanpemotongan emisi sukarela. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan Presiden Obamaberperan sebagai pemimpin AS yang Aktif-Positif. ABSTRACT This thesis discusses the role of Barack Obama as United States leader during theglobal climate change negotiations. The focus of this research is how PresidentObama imposes ideas for solution to the challenge of climate change due to globalwarming. President Obama does not deny the fact that climate change has beenhappening as a tragedy of the commons, but he couldn?t abandon the nationalinterests of America to reduce emission as arranged through the legally bindingagreement of The Kyoto Protocol. President Obama has his own emissionreduction targets for United States. So, he encourages non-legally bindingprotocol to cut emission.
