 Abstract
Candida is an opportunistic fungi that is commonly found in HIV/AIDS patients. Decrease in CD4+ count in HIV infection, affects the nature of Candida sp. from commensal be pathogenic. This was a cross-sectional study to find out the relationship between CD4+ count and the number of Candida sp. from oral cavity in HIV children. Thirty-five children with HIV infection were divided into 3 groups according to CD4+ count. Isolation of Candida sp. were found in 27 samples of subjects (77.1%). The total colony Candida sp. was 1315(30-2100)CFU/ml in children with lower CD4+ count and 30(0-1020)CFU/ml in children with normal CD4+ count. The results showed a significant relationship between CD4+count and the number of Candida sp.
