[Candida adalah jamur oportunistik yang umum ditemukan pada kasus HIV/AIDS. Penurunan jumlah CD4+ pada infeksi HIV mempengaruhi sifat Candida sp. dari komensal menjadi patogen. Penelitian ini merupakan studi potong lintang untuk mencari hubungan antara jumlah CD4+ dengan jumlah koloni Candida sp. pada rongga mulut anak terinfeksi HIV. Tiga puluh lima anak dengan infeksi HIV dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok sesuai jumlah CD4+. Isolasi Candida sp. ditemukan pada 27 sampel subjek(77,1%). Total koloni Candida sp. pada anak dengan CD4+ rendah sebesar 1315(30-2100)CFU/ml dan CD4+ normal sebesar 30(0-1020)CFU/ml. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat hubungan bermakna antara jumlah CD4+ dengan jumlah koloni Candida sp., Candida is an opportunistic fungi that is commonly found in HIV/AIDS patients.
