Abstract
Film is a media which is able to describe the social, cultural, economic, and political state of society when the film was made. This study aimed to compare the depiction of women in character Rapunzel in the movie Disney Tangled and Germany Rapunzel and its relation with the real depiction of women in this period. The Heroes Journey by Jung showed that the two Rapunzel figures have different depictions and characters at the beginning, but showed the same spirit that the woman should dare to show their existence to herself. This description is consistent with the theory of Laura Mulvey which described women should be pictured as having influence with herself out of the picture constructed by patriarchal culture.
