Melalui pendekatan penelitian kualitatif, peneliti bermaksud menjawabpertanyaan bagaimana Remotivi menggunakan situs web Remotivi.or.id sebagaimedia alternatif untuk menyuarakan kepentingan publik dalam persoalandemokratisasi penyiaran televisi di Indonesia. Dari hasil penelitian ditemukanbahwa internet dapat dimanfaatkan oleh kelompok masyarakat sipil untukmelakukan kritik terhadap televisi dan mendorong keberpihakan televisi kepadakepentingan publik. Fungsi internet dirasakan para pegiat Remotivi untukmembentuk pesan yang merepresentasikan gagasan kritis mereka, menjaringdukungan, serta mendorong perubahan wajah televisi di Indonesia melaluiadvokasi., In the midst of the political economic structure of television broadcasting mediatend to favor certain groups gain, practices lead to industrial interests and ignorethe social responsibility to the public, and the weakness of the regulator's role inregulating television broadcasting in order to conform with the spirit of thedemocratization of broadcasting, the existence of media monitoring agency(media watch), initiated by civil society can be an alternative force to push themedia bias against public interest.
