[ ABSTRAK Dalam tulisan ini akan membahas sifat sadisme dan masokisme dalam novel Utsukushisa to Kanashimi toyang dikarang oleh Kawabata Yasunari.Penulis akan melihat sifat masokisme dan sadisme dalam berbagai aspek. Yang menjadi Objek analisis dalam tulisan ini adalah tokoh Keiko. Penulis akan menjabarkan kecenderungan sifat sadisme dan masokisme yang terjadi dalam setiap interaksi tokoh Keiko dengan Tokoh lain.
