This study aims to test whether there is/are any difference(s) in pattern of the day of the week effect on Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) between the administrations of President Megawati Sukarnoputri and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. The results indicate that there is difference in pattern of the day of the week effect between the two presidential administrations: the highest return in a week during the Megawati Sukarnoputri administration occurred on Friday whilst during Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono-Budiono administration occurred on Wednesday. Thus, explanation of phenomenon of the day of the week effect in the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) should start to consider the difference in pattern of the day of the week effects amongst different presidential administrations. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat perbedaan pola day of the week effect pada Indeks Harga Saham Gabungan (IHSG) antara masa pemerintahan presiden Megawati Soekarnoputri dengan Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pola day of the week effect yang berbeda antara kedua masa pemerintahan presiden, di mana imbal hasil tertinggi dalam sepekan pada masa pemerintahan Megawati Soekarnoputri terjadi pada hari Jumat sementara pada masa pemerintahan Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono-Budiono terjadi pada hari Rabu. Karena itu, fenomena day of the week effect di Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) seharusnya mulai mempertimbangkan perbedaan pola day of the week effect antara masa pemerintahan presiden yang berbeda. |
