Abstract
Industri musik saat ini sedang menghadapi konflik karena inovasi teknologi yang menganggu. Teknologi baru ini identik dengan pembajakan musik. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pembajakan musik terhadap industri musik dan bagaimana hukum terlibat dalam mengatasi masalah ini. Literatur dan kuesioner digunakan untuk menjawab pertanyaan tersebut. Melalui tesis ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembajakan musik mempengaruhi industri baik secara positif maupun negatif. Selain itu, hukum juga memiliki peranan penting dalam mengubah industri secara keseluruhan. Dengan kata lain, semua perusahaan musik harus mengadaptasikan model bisnis mereka baik untuk keuntungan secara finansial maupun untuk mematuhi undang-undang.

Music industry today is facing conflicts because of the disruptive technological innovations. This emerging technology is identical with music piracy. Therefore, this research aims to find effect of music piracy to music industry and how the laws engage to overcome this problem. Literature review and questionnaire are used to answer this question. To be concluded, it is found that the music piracy affects the industry both positively and negatively. Also, the laws have an important role in changing industry as a whole. This implies that all music companies should adapt their business model both to make profit and comply with the laws.
