ABSTRAK Novel Ikan-ikan Hiu, Ido, Homa karya Y.B. Mangunwijaya mengisahkan kehidupanmanusia laut di Halmahera pada masa Kerajaan Ternate abad ke-17. Manusia lauttersebut terbagi atas tiga golongan, yakni orang laut, raja laut, dan bajak laut. Denganmenggunakan metode kualitatif dengan teknik analisis-deskriptif, penelitian inimemaparkan bagaimana citra manusia laut di dalam novel. Penelitian inimenggunakan pendekatan intrinsik untuk melihat latar sosial budaya dalam novel danpendekatan ekstrinsik untuk melihat konteks sosial budaya dalam masyarakat di luarkarya sastra. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa citra manusia laut dalam novelsangat ditentukan oleh penafsiran pengarang atas peristiwa sejarah yangmelatarbelakanginya. Selain itu, gagasan sosial pengarang tentang nilai-nilaikemanusiaan juga sangat berpengaruh dalam pembentukan citra manusia laut didalam novel. ABSTRACT The novel of Ikan-ikan Hiu, Ido, Homa which were written by Y.B. Mangunwijayatell about seamen?s life in Halmahera in the era of the Kingdom of Ternate in 17thcentury. Those seamen were considered as three different groups, which are theseaman, the king of the sea, and the pirates. By using qualitative methods withanalysis-descriptive technique, this study explains about how the life of the seamen isportayed in the novel. This study uses intrinsic approach in understanding the socioculturalcontext within the novel, while extrinsic approach is used to see socioculturalaspect of the society outside the literary works. The result of this study showsthat the portrayal of the seamen in the novel is determined by the writer?sinterpretation toward historical background of the novel. Moreover, the writer?s ideaabout human values is also very influential in potraying the seamen in the novel. |
