[ABSTRAK Tesis ini membahas identitas nasional yang terdapat dalam naskah teks sejarahperumusan dasar negara Pancasila tentang sistem tanda dan makna yang terdapatdalam naskah tersebut. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan desaindeskriptif. Dengan menggunakan analisis semiotika Peirce, dapat disimpulkanbahwa makna yang didapatkan dari perumusan naskah tersebut menunjukkanproses komunikasi menggunakan sistem tanda yang saling mendukung satu samalain. Proses pembangkitan makna dalam persidangan yang berlangsungmenghasilkan rumusan Pancasila yang disepakati sebagai dasar IndonesiaMerdeka, dan menjadi simbol identitas nasional. Penelitian ini memiliki implikasiteoritis yang membedah naskah sejarah ke dalam level teks untuk kemudiandianalisis proses semiosisnya dalam beberapa tahap dan menginterpretasikantanda tersebut ke dalam suatu pemaknaan tanda yang saling menguatkan.Penelitian ini memberi rekomendasi bagi akademisi yang tertarik untuk mengkajinaskah teks sejarah Indonesia yang menjadi konsensus nasional denganmemperhatikan proses perumusan dan penyusunannya sehingga menjadi refleksidalam mengatasi permasalahan bangsa.
