[ABSTRAK Penelitian ini membahas bagaimana kekerasan simbolik beroperasi dalamsinetron Catatan Hati Seorang Istri dengan membongkar ideology patriarki sebagaiideology dominan dalam sinetron tersebut. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitiankualitatif dengan metode analisis wacana Sara Mills dan teknik pengumpulan datamelalui analisis teks, serta studi literatur. Konsep kekerasan simbolik yang digunakandalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana dominasi yang dilakukan laki-laki terhadapperempuan melahirkan kekerasan simbolik.Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sinetron Catatan Hati Seorang Istrimenampilkan dominasi laki-laki terhadap perempuan berupa dominasi mengatasnamakan kewajiban wilayah domestik, dominasi dengan menutup mulut perempuan,dominasi menempatkan perempuan sebagai objek seksual. dan dominasimenyebabkan perempuan bersuara. Dominasi inilah yang mendasari kekerasansimbolik pada sinetron Catatan Hati Seorang Istri. ABSTRACT This research explain how symbolic violence operates in the soap opera“Catatan Hati Seorang Istri” with expose the patriarchal ideology as the dominantideology in the soap opera. This is a qualitative research with discourse by SaraMillls as the method to analyze the text and text analysis technique along withliterature study to collect the data. The concept of symbolic violence, that is used inthis research, assumes that domination by men against women produce symbolicviolence.The result of this research indicates “Catatan Hati Seorang Istri” showingdomination of men over women in the form of dominance grouped under theobligation of the domestic , dominance with shut mouth women , domination ofputting women as sexual objects .
