[ABSTRAK Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian toponimi yang bertujuan untuk mendapatkan asalusul penamaan tempat yang saat ini dijadikan nama stasiun kereta api CommuterJabodetabek. Selain itu, penelitian juga bertujuan untuk menemukan apakah suatupenandaan toponim telah menjadi mitos. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatifdengan sumber data didapatkan dari lapangan dan literatur. Penelitian ini berhasilmengumpulkan 60 data dari 51 titik pengamatan. Data toponimi didapatkan dari 78narasumber yang terdiri atas 1 narasumber utama dan 77 narasumber dari masyarakat.Sementara itu, literatur didapatkan dari peta sejak abad 16 hingga abad 20 serta naskahPerjalanan Bujangga Manik. Teknik analisis data menggunakan kajian etimologi dansemiotik Barthes. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 12 toponim yang mengalami prosesmenuju mitos. Hasil lain yang ditemukan terdapat 15 bahasa yang menjadi sumberpenamaan stasiun kereta api, yaitu Arab, Bandan, Belanda, Bali, Betawi, Hokkian,Indonesia, Inggris, Jawa, Jawa Kuna, Melayu, Manggarai, Portugis, Sunda, dan SundaKuna.
