Tesis ini membahas kemungkinan penggunaan bambu sebagai bahan baku alternatif pembuatan material karpet untuk interior perkantoran dengan mempertimbangkan sustainabilitas dalam daur hidup keseluruhan mulai dari pemilihan spesies tanaman, proses produksi, distribusi, penggunaan, hingga akhir masa pakai melalui sudut pandang ekologis. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode praktis-konstruktif yang melibatkan studi empiris dan pendekatan langsung melalui testing out dalam laboratorium. Hasil penelitian merupakan bukti bahwa serat bambu sebagai bahan baku material karpet di area perkantoran dapat menanggulangi office sickness/sick building syndrome melalui properti anti-bakterial dan daya ikatnya terhadap partikel debu.

This thesis discusses the possibility of the use of bamboo as an alternative raw material for the manufacture of interior office carpet material by considering sustainability in the overall life cycle starting from the selection of plant species, the process of production, distribution, usage, until the end of product life through an ecological standpoint. This research is a quantitative research with practical methods of empirical studies that involve constructive and direct approach through testing out in the laboratory. The result of this study is the evidence that bamboo fiber as carpet materials in office interior can prevent office sickness/sick building syndrome through its anti-bacterial property and the capacity to hold dust.
