[ABSTRAK Penelitian ini mengangkat tentang komunikasi sebagai salah satu bagianfungsi utama museum dalam melayani masyarakat dan perkembangannya.Komunikasi museum dilakukan melalui ekshibisi pameran. Lokasi penelitianadalah Museum Penerangan yang terletak di kawasan wisata Taman MiniIndonesia Indah. Penelitian ini menggunakan konsep new museum, konsepkomunikasi, konsep ekshibisi di museum. Hasil dari penelitian inimengidentifikasi bahwa Museum Penerangan belum dapat menampilkanekshibisinya dalam konsep new museum. Museum Penerangan untuk menjadi newmuseum harus menampilkan ekshibisi dengan menggunakan pendekatan tematikyang didukung dengan pendekatan kronologi untuk mengurutkan periodesasimedia komunikasi dari media komunikasi tradisional sampai media baru. ABSTRACT This study focussed on the communication as one of the main functions of themuseum in serving the community. Communication is done through an museumexhibition. The research location is in Museum Penerangan, located in the touristarea of Taman Mini Indonesia Indah. Analysis of research is using the concept ofthe new museum, the concept of communication, the concept of an exhibition atthe museum. The results showed that Museum Penerangan may not display itsexhibition in the concept of the new museum.
