Abstract
[ABSTRAK
Artikel ini membahas tema patriotisme di dalam cerita pendek La Dernière Classe karya Alphonse Daudet. Berlatar waktu Perang Prancis-Prusia (18-70-1871), Daudet ingin menyampaikan adanya konflik antara Prancis dan Prusia (Jerman) yang diangkat melalui konflik bahasa. Wilayah Alsace yang menjadi perbatasan Prancis dan Prusia terpaksa berhenti menggunakan bahasa Prancis sebagai bahasa resmi akibat kekalahan Prancis terhadap Prusia. Perubahan tersebut meninggalkan kesedihan yang dalam bagi penduduk Alsace sehingga muncul sikap-sikap yang mengangkat tema patriotisme. Dengan menggunakan analisis struktural melalui poros sintagmatik dan paradigmatik (Roland Barthes), tema patriotisme tersebut diteliti berdasarkan analisis alur, tokoh, serta latar ruang dan waktu ABSTRACT This article discusses about patriotism theme in Alphonse Daudet‟s short story titled La Dernière Classe. With the French-Prussian War as the background setting, Daudet wants to bring up the conflict between France and Prussian (Germany) which was brought up by a language conflict. Alsace people in the border between France and Prussia were forced to stop using french as the consequence of French‟s defeat against Prussian. The change causes a deep sorrow for the citizens of Alsace. It raises patriotism theme.
