[Latar Belakang: Diabetes melitus tipe-2 diketahui dapat memperparah kondisi periodontitis kronis yang berakibat pada kehilangan gigi. Berdasarkan penelusuran literatur, belum pernah ada penelitian yang menganalisis hubungan antara DM tipe-2 dengan persentase jumlah gigi yang terlibat periodontitis kronis. Tujuan: Menganalisis perbedaan persentase jumlah gigi yang terlibat periodontitis kronis antara subjek DM tipe-2 dibandingkan dengan subjek tidak DM. Metode: Penelitian cross-sectional pada 105 subjek DM tipe-2 dan 105 subjek tidak DM berusia 35-65 tahun dengan periodontitis kronis yang datanya diambil dari kartu status rekam medik periodontal RSKGM FKG UI tahun kunjungan 2004-2014. Hasil: Uji Mann-Whitney menunjukkan nilai p<0,05 yang artinya terdapat perbedaan bermakna rerata persentase jumlah gigi yang terlibat periodontitis kronis antara subjek DM tipe-2 (70,46%±26,03%) dibandingkan dengan subjek tidak DM (60,49%±30,72%).
