[ABSTRAK Tesis ini berusaha untuk memahami motivasi dan kepentingan dibalik tindakanHizbullah yang memutuskan untuk terlibat dalam konflik Suriah. Penelitian iniadalah penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan teknik process tracing. Datapenelitian diperoleh melalui kajian kepustakaan. Hasil dari penelitian inimenunjukkan bahwa keterlibatan Hizbullah dalam konflik Suriah, merupakan upayauntuk mempertahankan keamanan wilayah Selatan Libanon, melindungi masyarakatSyi’ah Libanon dan menjaga tempat suci masyarakat Syi’ah, dan mempertahankanrezim Bashar Al-Assad. ABSTRACTThe purpose of this research is to understand Hezbollah’s interest and motivation forintervening in the Syrian conflict. The research can be categorized as a qualitativeresearch done through process of a tracing technique. The data were collected byliterature study. The result of this research shows that Hezbollah’s interest andmotivation for intervening in the Syrian conflict are to defend territory of SouthLebanon, to protect Shiite Society in Lebanon, as well as Shiite shrines, also toprotect Bashar Al-Assad’s regime., The purpose of this research is to understand Hezbollah’s interest and motivation forintervening in the Syrian conflict.
