 Abstract
ABSTRACT Number of domestic violence at the global level as well as Indonesia is still relatively high with the largest portion is in the form of violence against wives. Improving wife education level is one way to reduce domestic violence, even though to this day there is still a debate about the correlation between the women level of education and domestic violence. Through theoretical models, this study proves that higher women education level will be able to reduce domestic violence. Focus of empirical research directed at 15 provinces in Indonesia in the period 2006-2013. The estimation results of an empirical model found the level of education of women is negatively correlated and significant in explaining the amount of domestic violence.
