ABSTRAK Skripsi ini membahas perbedaan pemikiran dan tindakan tokoh utama serta penggunaan latar dalam cerpen Keluarga Pembuat Mangkuk Kayu. Konflik di dalam cerpen dibangun atas perbedaan kedua tokoh utama, yakni Huang Tua dan Huang Muda. Huang Tua digambarkan sebagai tokoh yang berkeyakinan pada leluhur sedangkan Huang Muda digambarkan sebagai tokoh yang hidup di masa yang lebih modern. Perbedaan pandangan tokoh ini mengambil latar setelah Reformasi Keterbukaan, yakni tahun 1980-an di Provinsi Shaanxi ABSTRACT The thesis discusses the disparity of main character?s thoughts and action as well as background which using in this Keluarga Pembuat Mangkuk Kayu short story. Disparity of main character, Old Huang and Young Huang, actually build the main story as well. Old Huang is one of people who are convinced with ancestors, whereas Young Huang is a person who live in further era. This story takes place in Shaanxi Province, China on 1980s, when the China?s Economic Reforms have been started.;The thesis discusses the disparity of main character?s thoughts and action as well as background which using in this Keluarga Pembuat Mangkuk Kayu short story.
