Water is very important for life. The existence of water in the earth kept in balance because there is air cycling. Now, everything is using modern technology, Jakarta as a big city is facing into a chronic problem related to the availability of water. In rainy season, we are surplus water, which causes flood. Based on the flood in the year of 1996, 2002 and 2007 in Jakarta, there are 2 main factors which caused the flood. First, the natural condition of Jakarta which has declivity position and has passed by 13 rivers with the bad treatment from the communities who live around the rivers. They do not have totality awareness to take care the balanced environment and it makes Jakarta become worst. By starting from upper to lower course as one river, one plan and one integrated process with external control mechanism followed by clear action and cooperation between related department also participation from the communities we hope Jakarta could be free from flood in the future. |
