ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan bukti empiris bahwa komposisi dewan,struktur kepemilikan, dan karakteristik dewan berpengaruh terhadap kemungkinanperusahaan mengalami kesulitan keuangan. Ruang lingkup pada penelitian inimengambil Indonesia sebagai regional dan industri manufaktur sebagai sampelpada periode 2014. Untuk mengukur kesulitan keuangan digunakan persamaanAltman Z-Score. Hasil regresi logistik menunjukkan bahwa pada kelompokkomposisi dewan, hanya terdapat komite audit yang memiliki pengaruh signifikanterhadap kesulitan keuangan. Sedangkan struktur kepemilikan terbukti tidak dapatmemengaruhi kesulitan keuangan perusahaan. Temuan lainnya pada kelompokkarakteristik dewan menunjukkan bahwa kewarganegaraan presiden direkturmampu mengurangi risiko perusahaan mengalami kesulitan keuangan. ABSTRACT This research aims to provide empirical evidence that the board?s composition,ownership structure and board?s characteristics has an effect to the company?sprobability of experiencing financial distress. This research uses manufacturingcompanies in Indonesia as a sample during 2014 reporting period. Altman Z-Scoreequation is used to measure the probability of financial distress. The results oflogistic regression showed that amongst the composition of the board category,audit committee is the only element that has significant influence over financialdistress. Meanwhile, the ownership structure is proved to have no influence on thecompany's financial distress. Other findings indicate that the citizenship ofpresident director can reduce the company?s risk of experiencing financialdistress |
