ABSTRAK
Tingginya heterogenitas penduduk perkotaan membuat tidak semua golonganmasyarakat terwadahi, sehingga muncul fenomena kelompok subkultur. Fokuspenelitian ini adalah kelompok subkultur dalam bentuk geng. Tujuan penelitian iniuntuk mengetahui karakteristik identitas geng, karakteristik teritori geng, danhubungan keduanya. Untuk mengetahui fenomena keruangan geng di KecamatanJohar Baru, penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif dan komparatif .Variabel yang digunakan adalah karakteristik anggota geng, tujuan geng, aktifitasgeng, sifat teritori, penandaan tempat, dan lokasi yang ditempati. Hasil penelitianmenunjukan bahwa geng yang bersifat ekonomis dan mayoritas status kependudukananggotanya merupakan pendatang, memiliki karakteristik wilayah teritori yangmenempati lokasi sumber ekonomi terdekat, bersifat tertutup, dan melindunginya.Geng yang memiliki tujuan yang bersifat non-ekonomi dan mayoritas statuskependudukan anggotanya merupakan warga asli, memiliki karakteristik wilayahteritori yang tidak menempati lokasi sumber ekonomi, bersifat terbuka danmengutamakan pada kegiatan kumpul anggota meskipun dekat dengan sumber ekonomi
ABSTRACT
The high heterogeneity of urban population makes not all of the community groupsare accommodated, so it appears the phenomena of subculture groups. This studyfocused on the Gangs as the subculture groups. The purpose of this study was todetermine the characteristics of gang identity, characteristics of gang territory andrelations between them. To determine spatial phenomena of the gangs in KecamatanJohar Baru, this study used qualitative descriptive and comparative method. Thevariables used are the characteristics of gang members, the purpose of gang, gangactivity, the nature of the territory, place marks, and the occupied location. The resultshowed that the gangs that is economical and the majority of the residence status ofits members are migrants, have characteristic of territory that occupies the location ofthe closest economic resources, is closed, and protect it. The gangs that have noneconomicgoals and the majority of residence status of its members are native, havethe characteristics of territory that does not occupy the location of economicresources, is open and prioritize the group gathering despite being close to theeconomic resources |
