Abstract
Skripsi ini membahas persepsi mahasiswa tingkat akhir jurusan akuntansi Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis Universitas Indonesia mengenai kesiapannya menghadapi dunia kerja dengan melihat employability skills yang dimiliki. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan FGD dan wawancara sebagai metode pengumpulan data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebenarnya mahasiswa memahami kemampuan apa saja yang dibutuhkan dalam bekerja, meskipun tidak semua kemampuan dikuasai. Hal ini menunjukkan adanya kesenjangan antara kemampuan yang dibutuhkan oleh employer dengan apa yang dimiliki oleh mahasiswa. Untuk mengatasinya, disarankan adanya evaluasi oleh universitas dan mahasiswa itu sendiri tentang pengembangan kemampuan. Selain itu, ditemukan juga bahwa magang merupakan sumber informasi yang paling baik untuk memberikan pemahaman tentang employability skills. ...... The focus of this study is the perception of final year accounting student at Universitas Indonesia about their work readiness regarding the employability skills. This study uses qualitative approach with focus group discussion and interview as the data collection method. The result of this study shows that students have a good understanding about the skills needed at work (employability skills). In spite of their understanding, the students have no confidence about their work readiness regarding those skills, except for the teamwork skill. This fact indicates that there is a gap between the competencies needed by employer with what will be offered by the students when they enter the workfield. To overcome this gap, the researcher suggests that the university and the student need to do an evaluation about the skills improvement. Moreover, the study also shows that internship is the best way to gain understanding about the employability skills.
