Big 4 auditor is consideredas a high quality auditor, therefore when a high quality auditor is being appointed tomonitor internal activity within the company, there will be several costs and benefitsthat may arise from this choice. This study also examines whether the presence of asignificant shareholders that might affect firm?s business decision that might caused agreater agency cost between principal and agent, would make group firms to appoint ahigh quality auditor. The method used in this study is quantitative method to test thehypotheses and done through logistic regression testing to analyze the results. Theresult of this study shows that in comparison to non-group firms, business group inIndonesia are more likely to appoint non-Big 4 auditors. This implies that thepresences of non-Big 4 auditors within the firms would present much more benefit forthe firms rather than appointing a Big 4 auditor. |
